Our 12 Points of Culture

Team Player

I am a team player and team leader. I do whatever it takes to stay together and achieve team goals. I focus on co-operation and always come to a resolution, not a compromise. I am flexible in my work and able to change if what I’m doing is not working. I ask for help when I need it and I am compassionate to others who ask me.

Communication

I speak positively of my team, my clients, and company in both public and private. I never use or listen to sarcasm or gossip. I take responsibility for responses to my communication. I always apologize for any upsets and then look for a solution. I only discuss concerns in private with the person involved.

Commitment

I give myself and everything I commit to 100% until I succeed. I am committed to the Vision, Mission, Culture and success of GeneralCents Accounting, its current and future team, and its clients at all times. I always look to add value to my team and my clients’ business.

Excellence

Good enough isn’t. I always deliver services of exceptional quality that add value to all involved for the long term. I look for ways to do more with less and stay on a path of constant and never-ending improvement and innovation.

Ownership

I am truly responsible for my actions and outcomes and own everything that takes place in my work and my life. I am accountable for my results.

Integrity

I am, among other things, honest and candid within the constraints of client confidentiality. Service and the public trust should not be subordinated to personal gain and advantage. Integrity can accommodate the inadvertent error and honest difference of opinion; it cannot accommodate deceit or subordination of principle. Integrity is measured in terms of what is right and just. In the absence of specific rules, standards, or I will ask: “Am I doing what a person of integrity would do? Have I retained my integrity?” Integrity requires an Accounting Guide to observe both the form and the spirit of technical and ethical standards; circumvention of those standards constitutes subordination of judgment.

Systems

I follow the systems and workflows for efficiency and to deliver consistent service. I strive to continually seek opportunities to improve the current systems – my team depends on it and my clients value it. I rely on accounting systems and best practices for internal controls, data validation, and to minimize the opportunity for errors and fraud.

Empowerment

I am encouraged to make decisions, find solutions, and seek opportunities that create efficiency, transparency, and value. I seek essential tools, training, guidance, and resources necessary to make confident decisions without supervision. I recognize that my team and clients depend on my proactive decision making and they can count on the quality and reliability of my decisions.

Competency/Talent

I am always prepared. I seek opportunity within the company and for the company. My talent is valued and I am allowed to showcase my talent with my team. Clients rely on my competency to provide accurate, reliable, and timely communication and data. I observe the accounting profession’s technical and ethical standards and continually strive to improve my competency and the quality of my services.

Technology

My team’s processes and systems are founded in technology and the value it provides to GeneralCents Accounting, myself, and my clients. I use technology with my team and clients to improve communication, decrease errors, speed-up the of delivery financial results, and provide an audit trail; ultimately, our bond with technology frees me up to be the trusted advisor to my clients and pave a path for their financial independence.

Ethics

I am a professional and I operate under high ethical standards according to accounting standards. As a professional, I perform an essential role in society. Consistent with that role, I have responsibilities to all those who use our professional services. I also have a continuing responsibility to cooperate with my team and clients, to improve the art of accounting, maintain the public’s confidence, and carry out the profession’s special responsibilities for self-governance. I am required to maintain and enhance the traditions of the accounting profession and the standards of GeneralCents Accounting.

Self-Governance

I understand that the scope of self-governance extends to all areas of activity within the company. My objectives are to promote operational effectiveness and efficiency, to ensure adherence to prescribed policies and procedures, to safeguard company and client assets, and to attest to the adequacy of financial and operating control systems.
